Kyle Colyn fires 2-over 37 to pace Knights

Led by Kyle Colyn’s 2-over-par 37, Ripon Christian’s boys golf team defeated in-town rival Ripon 220-228 in their annual nonleague contest at Spring Creek Country Club.

Christian Manes turned in the second best score of 42 on the front nine. Also scoring for the Knights were Andrew Manes (45), Brandon Dotinga (47) and Danny Vos (49).

Ripon missed a few starters who are on Spring Break vacation trips but got a solid contribution from Cole Herrin, who carded a 45. Nick Mendonca paced the Indians with a 43, while Kyle Head and Jason Williamson each had a 46. Nick Sharp rounded out Ripon’s scorers with a 48.

Junior varsity

Ripon 195, Hilmar 234

At Jack Tone Golf Course, Ripon’s Nathan Suender was medalist with a 2-over 33.

Anthony Matthews followed suit with a 37, Brock Herrin a 39, Matt Uecker a 42 and Tyler Dodgion a 43.

Valley Oak League

Manteca 219, Weston Ranch 292

The Buffaloes (3-0, 4-1 overall) came through with balanced scores up and down their lineup for their third straight victory.

Medalist Tim Baker finished 4-over with a 41 on the Manteca Park Golf Course front nine, and Justin Morrish trailed by a stroke. Brandon Ramirez posted a personal best 43, while Davey Tolbert and Kyle Howard finished with a 46 and 47, respectively.

Leading Weston Ranch was Felix Buenrostro’s 52.
