Addison Naranjo and Tipeti Paini are Ripon High’s Female and Male Athlete of the Year award winners for the class of 2026 after decorated four-year careers as varsity athletes.

Naranjo was a key player for two programs.

Her main sport is softball, as evidenced by the four All-Trans Valley League selections including MVP recognition in 2025. She helped lead the Indians to three league championships.

The middle infielder was a five-tool contributor on the diamond. In 88 games, she hit for a .403 batting average with seven homers, 16 doubles, 10 triples, 110 runs, 50 RBIs and 71 steals.

Naranjo was also a four-year soccer player, two on the varsity. She emerged as an important defender for the seventh-time reigning champion Indians, earning All-TVL honors as a senior. She even contributed two goals to the attack.

Not just an all-around athlete, Naranjo prided herself as an all-around student and campus leader, finishing with a 4.3 GPA. She was recognized by the Sac-Joaquin Section as a recipient of the A. Dale Lacky Scholarship Award worth $1,000.

Naranjo will continue her studies and softball career at Division I Canisius University.

Paini played football and basketball for Ripon, but it was on the gridiron where he got his accolades.

He was an important two-way lineman who was elevated to the varsity team as a freshman and even got to start in the playoffs.

As a pulling guard in the Wing-T/Gun-T attack, he was named TVL Outstanding Offensive Lineman his junior year while also getting a first-team nod for defense.

This past year, he made the first-team offense and earned Outstanding Defensive Lineman after racking up 75 tackles, 11 for losses, 9.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and an interception.

Paini will next play for College of San Mateo, the reigning California Community College Athletic Association state champion.

He played a year of varsity basketball, averaging 5.0 points and 5.0 rebounds in 21 games as a senior.
