Ripon Christian captured its third straight volleyball championship in the Southern League Monday with a 25-12, 25-15, 25-17 sweep of host Le Grand.

The Knights can take sole possession of the title, while improving to 42-0 since their return to the SL, with a win at Mariposa on Thursday.

Andie Shelton clubbed 10 kills to go with 22 assists for Ripon Christian. Cassidy De Rousse finished with four blocks, while Kristy Van Diver had four aces. Brittany Petlansy and Kaylie Colyn led the back row with 10 digs apiece.

Ripon Christian heads to Stockton tonight to square off with Chavez for a nonleague match before Thursday’s league finale.

Valley Oak League

Oakdale 3, East Union 0

At Dalben Center, Oakdale (12-0, 17-5-1) simply had too much firepower in its 25-12, 25-17, 25-14 win.

Alexis Steele paced East Union (4-8, 7-11) with five kills, Monica King hammered four to go with two aces, and Alex Scopas collected six digs.

“Oakdale is a pretty good team, and there’s a reason why they’re undefeated in league right now,” EU coach Rich Posz said. “We actually played one of our best games, but they’re just that much better.”

Sonora 3, Manteca 0

In Sonora, the Buffaloes (2-10, 8-19) got off to a slow start with some of their usual starters benched for missing practice during last week’s vacation. They lost 5-25, 15-25, 16-25.

Julia Martinez and Kijana Nicols each had three kills to spearhead the attack. Abbie Behler turned in three blocks (two solo). Ashley Gase and Nicole Magnusson finished with nine digs apiece.
