Ripon teammates Gabbi Ilardi and Katie Martin are headed back to the Sac-Joaquin Section Masters Championships.
They led the Indians to a runner-up finish out of 10 teams in the SJS Division V Tournament on Monday at Swenson Park Golf Course in Stockton. Ripon entered the tourney as its defending champion but was outpointed by Valley Foothill League North Division rival Argonaut, 479-492.
Only the first-place team and top six individuals not part of that qualifying squad advance to Masters which is held next Monday, Oct. 31 at The Reserve at Spanos Park in Stockton.
Ilardi, a senior, is going out as a three-time medalist in the divisional event. She was denied the opportunity to defend her individual crown during the 2020-21 academic year because of the COVID-19 lockdown.
Ilardi finished 3-under-par 71, edging out Bear River’s Theresa Shaw by two strokes. Genevieve Akers of Liberty Ranch, Melia Gustavson of Colfax and Lillian McGowan of Union Mine tied for third with 81s. Martin placed sixth overall and wound up as the final individual qualifier for Masters with an 84.
Also competing for Ripon were Aaliyah Martinez (106), Vivian Parsons (114), Anna Fisher (117) and Gaby Calderara (123).
