Ripon tops Turlock for consolation

TURLOCK – Ripon had big first and third quarters Saturday to win the consolation championship of the 40th Annual Frank Godinez Memorial Tournament, defeating tournament host Turlock 67-58.

The Indians (4-3) took an 18-9 lead in the first quarter only for the Bulldogs to battle back within 34-32 at halftime. Ripon bounced back to lead 51-39 after three quarters and then coasted to the win.

The Indians posted four players in double figures – Cole Stevens (21 points), Aaron Paschini (18), Anthony Sisk (13) and Kyle Sisk (11). Anthony Sisk had seven rebounds and Paschini six assists. 

 

Argonaut-Jackson 61,

Ripon Christian 46

JACKSON – A 21-10 second quarter for the tournament-host Mustangs (6-1) helped Argonaut hand the Knights (6-1) their first loss of the year Saturday in the championship game of the Argonaut QB Club Tournament.

Zach Cortright and Andrew Vander paced Tipon Christian with 13 points apiece. The Mustangs’ Jared Votaw led all scorers with 26 points.

 

Sierra 47,

Franklin-Stockton 34

STOCKTON – The Timberwolves wrapped up the four-day McDonald’s Classic Saturday with their second straight win at Weston Ranch High.

 

Defense carried the day for Sierra (4-2) with the Timberwolves outrebounding the Yellowjackets (1-5) 37-20.

Victor Elijah led Sierra with 16 points and six rebounds. Bikram Thiara and Jamille Grady each added nine poits with three 3-pointers apiece. 

The Timberwolves made the best of their limited free-throw appearances, going 4 for 5.
