Kharime Caratachea and the rest of Ripon’s softball team are off to a sizzling start to the new season.

The San Francisco State signee pitched a perfect game Wednesday at Tokay, while Addison Naranjo hit a triple and an inside-the-park home run in the Indians’ 13-0 non-league win.

Caratachea twirled a two-hit shutout against Manteca in Ripon’s opener last Friday and followed that masterpiece with a dominant four-inning outing in Lodi, striking out 10 of the 12 batters she faced. She was also productive offensively, reaching base in all three of her plate appearances (walk, hit by pitch) that include an RBI double.

Ripon (2-0) broke it open with a 10-run fourth inning in which Naranjo had her two big hits. She finished 2 for 3 with three runs and four RBIs. Naranjo earlier plated the first run of the game, walking in the first inning before getting driven in by Alana Hernandez (1 for 4, two RBIs).

Jaycee Wilmshurst was 2 for 3 with a double and three runs scored. Addyson Wilmshurst went 2 for 3 with a run and two RBIs. Isabella Rachacho contributed two RBIs. Ava Hernandez scored twice and had three steals.

Ripon faces Sonora at home next Tuesday.
