Sierra’s girls golf team earned a berth to the Sac-Joaquin Section Division III Tournament on Tuesday after placing third in the Valley Oak League Championships at Micke Grove Golf Links in Lodi.

Oakdale repeats as league champ, running away 46 points in the overall standings. The Mustangs scored a 437 in the VOL finale and were led by low medalist in MVP Tori Blank, who carded a 4-over 76. Sierra’s Mikaella Manto and East Union’s Ashley Trinidad finished in a second-place tie with 78s and made the All-VOL team. Six of the nine all-league winners hail from Oakdale.

East Union finished second in the tourney with 570 points, but it was not enough to catch Sierra in the season standings. Sierra totaled a 591 score on Tuesday and finished with 26 points in the standings, edging out East Union’s 22 for the third and final qualifying spot for divisionals.

Six individuals not part of the three qualifying teams also advance. Kimball finished as the overall league runner-up with 34 points and will join Oakdale and Sierra at Paradise Valley Golf Course in Fairfield next Monday, Oct. 25.

Brittney Barrington took sixth in the league finale with an 85 and will accompany fellow Lancer Trinidad at the D-III tourney. Mohrgen Kissee (14th, 106) and Emalyne Lundbom (16th, 111), both of Manteca, are also headed to the divisional.

For Sierra, Julia Erdman took 10th with a 103, Anna Dickinson was 17th with a 115, Marissa Alvarez 27th with a 145 and Sydney Ladrido 30th with a 149.
