Kaylee Joaquin has been the leader of the Manteca golf team for three straight seasons.

Although her 7-over-par-44 was the best round of the day Tuesday at Manteca Park Golf Course, and her Buffaloes turned in a season-best 263, Sierra had too much in the cupboard and took away a 22-stroke win.

“I was really pleased with the way my team performed,” Manteca head coach Greg Conway said. “I challenged them to play better and they rose to the occasion. Kaylee continues to prove she’s one of the best golfers in the league.”

Conway was also happy with Danielle Roberts’ 45, which tied Sierra’s Amanda Orr and Alicia Kmiec for second-best on the afternoon.

“I’m especially please with Danielle,” he said. “She put a lot of pressure on herself to perform better and she came through.”

Chandler Rose carded a 49, Micaela Dias had a 57, Sierra Roberts turned in a 68, and Melissa Bond had the throw-out, a 72.

Ashley Kiesel carded a 47 for the T’Wolves, Heather Schmitz had a 51, Allison Smith a 53, and Melanie Kiesel had the throw-out, a 76.

“Sierra is a good team,” Conway said. “They’re a little deeper than us, so they’ll continue to be a challenge for us to beat. Our hats are off to them for their consistent play.”

East Union 221, Weston Ranch 336

At Van Buskirk Golf Course in Stockton, Krystal’s Young’s 47 tied No. 4 golfer Tori Souza, highlighting a phenomenal effort by the surging Lancers.

Jackie Ketner led the way with a 41, Jillian Goulart had a 42, Frances Telles shot a 45, and Heather Craft turned in a 54 for a respectable throw-out.

“Jackie Ketner has been in a little bit of a funk, but she came in great today,” EU co-head coach Dennis Wells said. “Krystal Young’s 47 was amazing, team-wise, we couldn’t be happier, we’ll be down to 215 before too long. I was really happy with the No. 5 and 6 spots today.”

Britney Jasper paced the Cougar effort with a 59.

East Union (7-0 VOL) heads to Central Valley Thursday.

Ceres 237, Lathrop 256

At River Oaks Country Club in Ceres, Marissa Leon paced the young Spartans with a 46, while Chelsea Brown was right behind with a 47.

“It was a positive day for us,” Lathrop head coach Nicole Burrows said.

The Spartans slipped to 0-6.
