Five 21-point producers power Dolphins to 2nd

Led by five 21-point producers, the Manteca Dolphins Swim Team placed second in a three-team Mid-Valley Swim League meet at Sierra High Saturday.

The Hughson Sea Dogs won with 1,146 points, with the Dolphins checking in with 856. The Turlock Marlins finished with 169 points to round out the competition.

Winning all three of their events for Manteca were: Emily Doran (girls 15-16-year-old division), Matthew Elliot (boys 15-16), Maverick Lin (boys 9-10), Ty Wells (boys 9-10) and Darrel Yamamura (boys 11-12).

Giovanni Padilla only participated in two events but won both, the 50-yard freestyle and 25-yard butterfly in the boys 7-8 division for 14 points.

Winning two events and earning a runner-up finish in the other for 19 points were: Zac DeGroot (boys 15-16), Vanessa Flores (girls 11-12), Ashlea Green (girls 9-10) and Marissa Machado (girls 13-14).

Also winning two events were Amanda Christensen (girls 13-14) for 18 points, and Nancy Enriquez (girls 11-12) for 17. Matthew Trejo also added 17 points to the Dolphins cause, winning the 25 free in the boys 7-8 division while placing second in two events.

Other notable performers with 13 or more points were: Ashley McKinney (girls 13-14, 16 point), Emily Simons (girls 9-10, 16 points), Jaymee Little (girls 6-under, 15 points), Mallory Brubaker (girls 9-10, 14 points), Lane Fishburn (girls 11-12, 14 points), David Hudson (boys 15-16, 14 points) and Nick Jamero (boys 15-16, 13 points).

The Dolphins return to action Saturday at Pitman High in Turlock for the SeaDog Invitational.
