Nine new records were set in the Oakdale Invitational Saturday, and Ripon’s Rosie Vaughn was a part of three record-setting performances.

Vaughn was also one of five Ripon Sea Lions to earn high-point honors, leading the team to the meet championship with 969 points. The Sea Dogs of Hughson (878.5) and Tracy Tritons Swim Club (821) finished 2 and 3, respectively. The Manteca Dolphins — paced by three high-point winners and a record breaker — were fourth with 595

Vaughn captured the high-point crown in the 15-16-year-old girls division. She shattered two records previously held by Crystal Martinez in 2000: 1 minute, 5.43 seconds in the 100-yard individual medley (1:07.06), and 32.95 in the 50 breast stroke (33.40). Vaughn was also the victor in the 50 backstroke.

Joining Vaughn on the record-breaking 15-18 girls 200 medley relay team were Rachel Crew, Mackenzie Rigney and Kaylie Sheaffer.

The Sea Lion quartet clocked in at 2:03.61 to best the previous meet record of 2:07.34 set by Manteca in 2005. Sheaffer also placed third on the all-around points list for the 15-16 girls division.

Also setting new meet records were Ripon Sea Lion Corey Winter and Manteca Dolphin Scott Tolman.

Winter beat a 30-year-old record in the 100 butterfly in 57.49 and finished second in the 15-16 boys high-point standings. The old record was set at 1:01.29 in 1981.

Tolman, the No. 3 point-scorer in 11-12 boys, finished the 50 breaststroke in 33.19, surpassing the previous record of 34.56 set by Oakdale’s Christian Britton.

Ripon ruled the 7-8 girls division, occupying the top three spots on the individual high-point standings. Sydney Vieira led the way with 25 points, narrowly edging teammate Rylee Beidleman (24) and Haven Fasani (20).

Other Sea Lions earning top-three high-point finishes were: E.J. Lewis (first, 6-under boys), Noah Esenwein (second, 9-10 boys), Jacob Thompson (third, 9-10 boys), Emma Lewis (first, 13-14 girls), Maddie Hawes (13-14 girls) and Matt Vasquez (first, 17-18 boys).

High-point honorees for the Manteca Dolphins were: Delaney Brubaker (second, 6-under girls), Matthew Trejo (first, 7-8 boys), Ashlea Green (first, 11-12 girls), Vanessa Flores (third, 11-12 girls), Ty Wells (first, 11-12 boys), Rachel Holmstrom (second, 13-14 girls) and Darrel Yamamura (second, 13-14 boys).

The Sea Lions will host Modesto and Hughson to resume regular-season action in the Mid-Valley Swim League, while Manteca heads to Ceres.
