The Chevrolet Cruze has already enjoyed sales success abroad.

“It received rave reviews in Europe,” said Pat Kelly, general manager of Tracy Chevrolet at 3400 Auto Plaza Way.

A few folks stopped by the show room Wednesday to catch a glimpse of the sleek Cruze 1LT on display. The standard cost is $18,175.

The Cruze made its debut in the U.S. market in September but had already been available in Europe, Asia and 60 other countries.

For General Motors, the all-new 2011 model may prove to be a turning point on how consumers view a small car.

It’s deemed a global car, able to compete head-to-head with the world’s best compact segment.

The all-new model promises to push the limit of the compact segment by offering the spaciousness and amenities of a midsize car.

The Cruze has greater cargo capacity than the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla.

It’s achieved a five-star safety rating in every market sold throughout the world. Included are standard features such as 10 airbags, traction control, ABS and OnStar Automatic Crash Response.

The 2011 Cruze is fuel efficient, available in four-cylinder engines – 1.8L or 1.4L turbocharged – or the all-new 1.4L ECOTEC turbo that’s capable of providing up to 40 mpg highway.

The exterior and design of the car includes fast-sloping rear pillars to provide a sporty, coupe-like proportion, three distinct wheel sizes (16, 17, and 18 inches), a chrome rear deck lid trim, and a trunk with an easy-to-load low lift over height.

Inside, the Cruze comes with a manual tilt and telescoping features on the steering wheels. The seats can be had in leather.

The car is a quiet ride. The noise reduction was made available by variety of technologies, including acoustic laminated windshield, sound deadener added to the underbody and body-side structure, and extensive body sealing for reduced road noise.

Tracy Chevrolet has been under new ownership and management since March 2008.
