The 2012 Laramie 2500 and 3500 models are built for work or play.

According to Cliff Rogers, who is the Internet sales manager at Cabral Motors in Manteca, the Dodge Ram truck series here can double as a family vehicle while still having the brawn to handle the big loads.

“This is the toughest-working truck on the road,” he said Tuesday at the Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Suzuki dealership at 1145 W. Yosemite Ave.

Powered by a 6.7-liter Cummins Bluetec clean-burning turbo diesel engine – couple that with the six-speed auto stick transmission and diesel exhaust brakes – the 3500 model Laramie, for example, can generate over 800 pounds of torque with a towing capacity of 38,000 pounds.

The 2500 model diesel 4-by-4 with crew cab that’s located just outside the Cabral showroom has the towing capacity of 22,500.

Equipped with a 34-gallon fuel tank, the Laramie has safety features such as advanced multistage front airbags; supplemental side-curtain front and rear airbags; integrated trailer brake controller with display; tire pressure monitor with four-wheel pressure display; electronic stability control; and antilock four-wheel disc brakes, to name a few.

Inside the cabin are leather-trimmed bucket seats, heated second row seats, and ventilated front seats.

“If the temperature (in the Laramie) dips below 35 degrees, the driver’s side seat and steering wheel will heat up. If it gets over 75 degrees, the air conditioning on the driver’s side will automatically turn on,” Rogers said.

For sounds, this Dodge Ram features a media center equipped with CD/DVD/MP3 along with a GPS navigation system.

The crew cab, Rogers said, can comfortably seat five to six people.

Another feature on the Laramie is the adjustable tilt-out / break-away mirrors to give the driver a good look at the haul.

“That (passenger side) mirror is also equipped with a built-in light so you can watch your step at night,” said Rogers.

There’s also no need to use diesel exhaust fluid on the Laramie 2500 and 3500 models, he added.
