For many shoppers, old is the way to go.  Looking for the perfect piece to complete a vintage sign collection or a 1900s pressed glass door knob that will adorn a new home is heaven for antique collectors. Local antique shoppers don’t have to look far to find antique gold, Turlock is filled with many antique stores that fit the specific needs for every antique shopper.

Main Street Antiques, located at 208 E. Main St. in Turlock, has a wide variety of vintage items to entice collectors of every kind. A visitor to the popular store can find everything from large pieces of furniture to glassware and costume jewelry. Chandeliers, vintage clothing and signs are displayed along with pottery, linens and even buttons and tiny thimbles.

Main Street Antiques was voted the Turlock Journal Readers’ Choice for antique store.

“Main Street Antiques is special and unique for many different reasons,” said Main Street Antiques manager Jennifer Jensen.  “Because we have over 25 dealers at our store, all of them bring a diverse look and variety.”

Main Street Antiques has its own coin specialist on hand to assist customers and those bringing in items for consignment.

The downtown landmark is a draw for local residents and those passing through town. Despite the recent economic downturn, Jensen said Main Street Antiques is doing well.

“We have actually increased through the whole recession.  People are buying smarter, and compared to other stores, our prices are more reasonable,” added Jensen.

Not too far from Main Street Antiques, Trinkets to Treasures, located at 125 S. Center St., offers a range of pottery, glass and vintage clothing.

“We have a lot of things on sale right now,” said Trinkets to Treasures owner Gail Brust.  “This month marks the 10-year anniversary that our store has been in business, so as a thank you to our loyal customers, a lot of the selections from our store are cheaper than ever.”

Trinkets to Treasures low prices and wide variety of antiques distinguish themselves against tough competitors in town.

“We have lower prices than all the other stores because we are not located in the main street.  We have a large section of paper goods, records, and albums.  We are not a consignment store nor do we sell space for other vendors to sell their items.  Everything you see here has been owned and purchased by me,” said Brust.

A couple of blocks from Trinkets to Treasures is LeCreme boutique, located on 113 West Main St. LeCreme offers a wide selection of feminine antique items inspired by high-end fashion.

“At LeCreme, we offer a mixture of antique products customers will love.  The store has a feel of high-end fashion and flare that can be found in Paris,” said LeCreme owner Yolanda Bernal.  “Our store is mainly known for our tea pots and tea cups.  Customers love them.”
