Gallo Centers 2012 Valleys Got Talent contest takes the stage Aug. 24 & 25

MODESTO   - The Gallo Center for the Arts’ third annual Valley’s Got Talent contest will be presented on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 24-25.  Both performances begin at 7 pm. The shows will have 25 acts, comprised of 118 performers, for the Center’s live stage variation on popular television shows such as ‘America’s Got Talent’ and ‘American Idol.’

 At the conclusion of the Friday show, the audience will vote on their favorite performers from the different performance categories.  A panel of judges will select the winners at the conclusion of the Saturday performance.  The audience vote will be the equivalent of one judge’s vote in determining the winners.

 Tickets to both shows are $10 to $25, and are on sale now at the Center’s ticket office at 1000 I Street in downtown Modesto, by calling 209-338-2100 or online at www.GalloArts.org.

 Co-presented with the Modesto Bee, Valley’s Got Talent will feature vocal soloists Gregory Pyatt (Modesto), Ronnie & PJ Rodrigues (Escalon), Teneisha Runner (Modesto), Travis Vick (Manteca) and Rosie Vaughn (Ripon). Vocal groups include Jarmma (Turlock), Josh Rosenblum Band (Modesto), The Sensations (Modesto), Stop Motion Poetry (Modesto), Television Skies (Oakdale), Turlock Youth Performing Arts Troupe (Turlock), and Youth Gone Wild (Modesto). Andrew Merrill and Blair Shearer-Pope (both Modesto) will perform dance solos, while Naina and Manpreet (Tracy) will perform a dance duet.  In the dance ensemble category are Dance Academy (Modesto), Juline Regional Youth Ballet (Modesto), and Ryan Maharaj’s Tashan (Ceres). Instrumental solos will be performed by Kaysie Gonzales and her sister Sofie Gonzales (Modesto), and Heath Rojas (Turlock).  Performers in the specialty act categories include Clickin’ Cousins (Oakdale), Lenious (Stockton), Drew Monson (Modesto) and the Fun Strummers Ukulele Band (Modesto).

 The contestants will be competing for the E. & J. Gallo Winery Grand Prize of $1,500, the Varni Brothers 7 UP Bottling Company Vocal Talent Achievement Award of $750, the $500 Paul Tischer Classical Music Scholarship, a $750 Dance Talent Achievement Award, a $750 Instrumental Talent Achievement Award, and a $750 Specialty Talent Achievement Award.
