The 28th annual Manteca Pumpkin Fair is seeking entrants for three contests - baking/cooking with pumpkin, pumpkin carving and making a scarecrow.

Baking/cooking with pumpkin contest

The annual Sunrise Kiwanis Baking with Pumpkin Contest (all entries must include pumpkin) takes place Sunday, Oct. 7, at 2 p.m.

All bakers and chefs are being encouraged to pre-register no later than Thursday, Sept. 27. Registration is $10 per entry. They will be giving five individual category prizes and one Grand Prize of “One Year Of Free Groceries” at Grocery Outlet of Manteca, (valued at $600.00 for the year). That’s $50 per month of “free groceries”.

Registration slips should be mailed to; Sunrise Kiwanis P.O. Box 752 Manteca, CA. 95336, or fax to 275-1603.  Late registrations should be turned in to the Kiwanis Country Corner Booth no later than Sunday, October 7 at 1:30 p.m.

Check in at the Kiwanis Country Corner Booth no later than 1:45 p.m. with your dessert. There will be five categories; Best Pie, Best Cookies, Best Cake, Most Decorative, and Most Creative Use of Pumpkin. Be sure to mark down the category that your dessert should be judged in on the registration form and attach a copy of the form to the entry.

Each category will be judged separately as well as included in an all-around favorite category.

Family scarecrow contest

The annual Sunrise Kiwanis Scarecrow Contest is Sunday, Oct. 6, at 2 p.m.

They are encouraging families to show their pride and creativeness in a Scarecrow display.

They will be awarding a family prize for two separate categories: Most Traditional Scarecrow and The Scariest Scarecrow and “Best of Manteca”. Registration will cost $10 per entry. All Scarecrows will need to be made at home with all of your family members’ help. You will need to pre-register no later than Thursday, Sept. 27. Box 752 Manteca, CA. 95336, or fax it to 275-1603.  Late registrations should be turned in to the Kiwanis Country Corner Booth no later than Saturday, Oct. 6, at 1:30 p.m.

Pumpkin carving contest

The annual Sunrise Kiwanis Pumpkin Carving Contest is from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct, 6.

All entries must bring their pumpkin with all of the seeds and innards removed and bring all of their carving tools. (Tools must only be “safe pumpkin carving tools” and “no knives or any sharp objects are permitted”. They will have two age divisions; 10–12 and 13–Adult and three different categories that will be judged. They encourage all carvers to pre-register no later than Thursday, Sept. 27, for the Pumpkin Carving Contest. Registration will cost $5 per entry and slips should be mailed to; Sunrise Kiwanis P.O. Box 752 Manteca, CA. 95336, or fax to 275-1603.   There will be prizes awarded for each category including an all-around favorite. Late registrations should be turned in to the Kiwanis Country Corner Booth no later than Saturday, Oct. 6, at 9:30 a.m.
