Two suspected child molestors on the run from Manteca Police for 20 years were arrested by the U.S. Marshal’s Service in West Valley City, Utah.
William Lloyd Balser and Robin Robinson were featured on the TV show “America’s Most Wanted” in 2007. Balser had reportedly talked to investigators in Manteca after fleeing the city and was quoted as saying the police would never catch him.
They will be returned to Manteca to face charges, according to Manteca Police Sgt. Jody Estarziau.
Police said Balser was wanted for multiple counts of child molestation including unlawful intercourse with a child, lewd acts with a child and continuous sexual abuse of a child. A warrant charging Balser with these offenses had been issued by the Manteca Municipal Court with a bail set at $1 million.
MPD investigators revealed Robinson was aware of the ongoing abuse of the two victims and did nothing to protect them or to stop the heinous crimes from continuing. They are both being held in the Salt Lake City Detention Center and are awaiting extradition back to California.
Sgt. Estarziau said the Manteca Police Department is grateful to the U.S. Marshal’s Service for locating and arresting the pair saying they will be held to answer in San Joaquin County Superior Court.
