SONORA — Sonora again will host the magical and mystical world of All Hallows, where reality meets the fantasy world of old the weekend of Oct. 22-23.

This most celebrated event is based on the ancient beliefs of the Celtic Tribes of Ireland and the more modern view of Halloween. A fantasy world will be recreated for the entire family with new expanded themes that include: Steampunk, Dieselpunk, Sci Fi, Cyberpunk, Gothic, Zombie, Rockabilly, Mythical, and good old Halloween spirited dress up.  There will be many special fantasy themed areas that are designed specifically for children with over 50 fantasy characters on parade daily.

Once inside the faire the magic begins with an assortment of strange beasts and costumed characters.  In the center of the All Hallows Village there will be a large music stage, featuring the sounds of the high energy Celtic-Rock bands; Black Eyed Dempsey’s, 1916 Irish Band, and the tribal sounds of Australia’s Brother. Also performing will be the ever-popular Black Irish Band, and the Cajun sounds of the Blues Box Bayou Band.  The faire also offers a specialty dance stage featuring Adamantine Dancers and the SolLuna Belly Dancers. Many of the village pathways will be filled with giants, jugglers, magicians, fire-eaters, and one very large dragon named “Lord Malligan of Trogdor”, who breaths fire.

New to the faire this year will be the world of Steampunk. Steampunk is primarily based on the fantasy writings of authors Jules Verne and H.G. Wells. A world once envisioned of steam-powered airships, rockets, submarines, and land rovers using late 1800s steam technology. The fantasy faire will offer many attractions in this realm that include a Steampunk Professor Illusionist, various steam powered equipment, and a small-scale airship.

Other faire attractions include a Fantasy Village of Fun, featuring all types of artisans and craftsman that will offer their wares.  There will also be a large food court selling many items of the exotic and common. Close by is a large tavern that will offer soft drinks, spirits, and Guinness from Ireland. If guests dare to leave the tavern they may journey into the many themed areas like the Haunted Zombie Graveyard or venture into the faire’s newest attraction known as The 13 Chambers of Horror. This latest creation is rated PG-13.  Once past the graveyard and chamber, you will discover the Medieval Midway.

The All Hallows Fantasy faire is designed for all ages.  Participants are encouraged to dress in costumes from ancient fairy creatures to modern Halloween characters. On Oct. 23 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. children will have the opportunity to trick-or-treat with vendors for free candy.
