Approval of 310-acre development before Ripon City Council tonight

A special session of the Ripon City Council is planned tonight to consider adopting the North Pointe Specific Plan and General Plan Amendment.

This is the area northeast of Ripon that was described earlier this year by landscape architect David Gates as “a place to work, shop and play.”

Those involved with this estimated 310-acre project are looking at mixed-used homes, business centers and recreational parks.

During the public hearing is scheduled at 6 p.m. at Ripon City Hall, 259 N. Wilma Ave., those for and against this major project near Mistlin Sports Complex are encouraged to come forth and address any issues or support.

Developers envision the building for all segments of homes and dwellings to cover the City’s needs over a 10-year period.

Plans also call for retail space to lure new businesses to Ripon along with possibly a campus / technology area and medical offices.

Other features of North Pointe include Paseo, roundabouts, pocket parks, plazas, bike trails, boulevards and wider streets.

Elected leaders, in addition, will look at approving the rezone and the Environmental Impact Report certification.
