Whos been sleeping on your couch?

How brazen are the homeless?

One reader thinks they are making themselves right at home in Manteca.

She reports that in her neighborhood near Yosemite Park southeast of Union Road and Yosemite Avenue a homeless individual has taken to sleeping on a couch on the porch of a neighborhood home.

The home is a rental that is being spruced up after long-time renters moved out. The only problem now is that homeless have broken in and are doing a number on the place.

While not all homeless are lawbreakers, blatant trespassers or destructive it does underscore how some homeless are bringing blight to neighborhoods in Manteca.

Here’s to the

new GECAC

fundraiser

Get ready for a new community event this September.

Give Every Child a Chance is dropping their long-running Kings & Queens casino night in favor of the first annual San Joaquin Valley Brewfest on Sept. 20 at the Promenade Shops at Orchard Valley. Much like a wine tasting affair, attendees will be able to sample numerous craft beers.

The next GECAC fundraising to benefit the free tutoring program for struggling kids is the Tip a Firefighter event Aug. 26 at the Manteca Applebee’s.
