LATHROP - A 34-year-old Oakley man’s body was located by members of the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Boating Safety unit at about 3 p.m. Wednesday near the end of Undine Road near the Dos Reis boat ramp.

The man initially jumped into the river on Saturday attempting to rescue a four-year-old child who had fallen into the river during a family outing.  A sheriff’s spokesman said attempts have been ongoing throughout the week to recover the boy’s body but with negative results.
