Leaf collection starts on Dec. 1 in Manteca

The City of Manteca begins its annual leaf collection on Tuesday, Dec.1.
Leaf collection will continue through mid-January. The city’s leaf crew will be collecting the leaves on the day before regular street sweeping days, which occur every other week in residential areas. Residents can determine which day their area is swept by viewing the map at http://www.ci.manteca.ca.us/pwt/stdiv/streetswp.pdf.
All residents who wish to participate are requested to place leaves only in loose piles in the street. Leaves should be at least one foot out from the curb gutter. City crews ask that you please make sure that leaves do not clog the gutter and block the flow of rainwater. Leaves bagged in plastic will not be picked up.
Residents with smaller quantities of leaves are encouraged to place the leaves in their yard waste (green) Toter for collection.
All other garden trimmings such as grass clippings and tree prunings are not included in the leaf collection program. Place these items in the yard waste collection bin (green Toter) or compost them in your own backyard.
Anyone with questions should contact Facilities Maintenance Superintendent Dave Frank at 456.8476 or by using the “Contact Us” button on the top of the City’s home page (www.ci.manteca.ca.us) and selecting the “Other (Streets)” topic.
This week’s solid
waste collection
There are no changes in the collection of trash and recycling this week as crews will rum regular routes both Thursday (Thanksgiving) and Friday. The Solid Waste office, though, will be closed both days.
