Mark Dorland’s life is going to be remembered by some 250 to 300 family members and friends this Saturday at 2 p.m. at the FESM Hall on North Main Street.
Dorland has been listed on missing status since an early July fishing trip out of San Felipe, Mexico after a 43-foot-long fishing boat capsized and sank in a sudden storm. His sons Jeremy and Mark Dorland Jr. – 36 and 37 years old – will lead the memorial event.
While many recreational fishermen were rescued, Dorland remains one of seven who are unaccounted for in the sinking.
It was noted that since the tragic event occurred in foreign waters, it can take up to five years for a death certificate to be issued. His retirement has been suspended until further notice.
Any memorial donations may be made to El Dorado Saving Bank at P.O. Box 877, Twain Harte, CA, 95383.
