A tip about the location of the man believed to be responsible for the shooting in the parking lot of Big League Dreams over the weekend led Manteca Police Detectives to North Stockton Tuesday morning and ended with the suspect dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

After setting up a perimeter in the area of East Hammer Lane and Maranatha Drive shortly after 9 a.m., officers located the suspect – 42-year-old Cory Croslow – in an orchard lying down on the ground. As officers began attempting to convince Croslow to give himself up peacefully, he reportedly stood up, raised a firearm, and committed suicide in full view of Manteca Detectives who were on scene.

According to the agency, no police personnel discharged their weapons.

The shocking conclusion ended the two-day hunt for the man that officers say shot another adult male in the parking lot of Manteca’s Big League Dreams sports park on Sunday afternoon. As of Tuesday afternoon, the victim in the shooting was still in critical condition at an area hospital.

While the primary suspect in the shooting is now deceased, Manteca Police investigators are still following up on the incident at Big League Dreams and searching for any information about what may have led up to the incident.
