Manteca’s Dominic Amaral has a wish.
He wants to bring happiness to young patients by presenting them with toys during their stay at Shriner’s Hospital in Sacramento.
In doing so, the 8 year-old hopes to cheer them up just like a gift of a toy has done when he’s undergone numerous major procedures.
It is why he’s asked his parents to stage a “Rally 4 Kids” toy drive that includes a lemonade and hot cocoa stand on Sunday, Nov. 19, from 1 to 4 p.m. in the family’s front yard at 524 Victory Lane in the loop street neighborhood off of West Alameda Street to the west of the Tidewater Bikeway.
They will be accepting toys and donations to help the Golden West School third grader realize his wish.
Dominic loves playing with Legos, Fortnite, and fishing with his Dad.
Because Dominic has osteogenesis imperfecta — a brittle bone disease — he spends a lot of time at Shriner’s Hospital in Sacramento.
Dominic wants to do a toy drive to give back for all the times his situation was brighter because of receiving a toy.
Shriner’s hospital treats children from newborns to 18, so they need toys for all ages.
Shriners Northern California provides care for children with orthopedic conditions, spinal cord injuries, burns, scars from any cause, cleft lip, anorectal disorders, chest wall malformations and other surgical needs.
