Manteca Police have identified a suspect in the fatal hit and run death of a 73 year-old Manteca woman.

The pedestrian was struck at 5:49 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 18, in the 800 block of Lathrop Road.

Additionally, the car the suspect drove in the collision was seized for processing by Manteca Police.

Collision investigations, like this, require analysis of several pieces of evidence to determine the cause of the collision: such as damage to the car, injuries sustained by the victim, driver’s statement, data from the car’s electronics, scene evidence, and witness accounts.

Therefore, no arrest was made at this time to allow for the investigation to determine what occurred and what criminal charges can be supported.

The driver was identified on Tuesday and interviewed by detectives.

The suspect is a 30-year-old male Modesto resident. Police indicated no further information about the suspect will be released at this time.

Once the investigation is complete, it will be forwarded to the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
