Steve Stevenson was appointed not too long ago to the Ripon Planning Commission as an alternative.
He expressed an interest to serve back in October, and was appointed to the two-year term due to expire in 2023.
That changed in December when Commissioner Gary Barton was picked as the provisional appointment to the Ripon City Council, taking the seat once occupied by Tim Wheeler.
With that appointment, an opening was created on the Planning Commission.
At Tuesday’s meeting, elected leaders agreed to appoint Stevenson to Seat No. 3 on the Planning Commission while selecting Jeff Veilleux as the alternate or Seat No. 6.
No discussion was necessary on the move.
A selection committee under the direction of Mayor Dean Uecker helped make this move, complying with the Ripon Municipal Code.
Members of the committee included Uecker, Barton and Planning Director Ken Zuidervaart.
Veilleux was one of five applicants who responded to the advertisement of the vacancy – two reportedly did not show up for their scheduled interviews.
Stevenson’s appointment as a voting member upped his term to four years.
