Those involved at one of the previous Community Police Academy took part in scenario training and other activities

The third annual Community Police Academy is coming.

The City of Ripon announced Monday that the Ripon Police Department will be conducting the nine-week program designed to educate members of the community about law enforcement, using various methods of instruction, beginning on Sept. 21.

Included will be lectures, activities, discussions, and scenario training.

In addition, those taking part will have the opportunity to explore new career opportunities while developing relationships that promises to last well beyond this course.

Applications for the academy will be accepted from now through Sept. 5 on a first come, first serve basis. Spots are limited to 20 participants.

Classes kick off on Sept. 21, running each Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. through Nov. 9.

A basic background check will be conducted on all applicants.

Those interested must reside in or have a substantial connection to the City of Ripon in order to participate.
