Manteca Unified trustees are expected Thursday to re-enforce a cooperative effort when it comes to the schools and City of Manteca’s sharing facilities from gyms and parking lots to fields, facilities such as the transit center and cafeterias to playing fields, the golf course, and swimming pools.

The biggest change is Manteca Unified funding a fourth Manteca Police school resource officer at a cost of $120,000 a year.

The city already funds three school resource officers — one each for Manteca, Sierra, and East Union high schools.

The fourth officer will be assigned to elementary schools.

The school board meets Thursday, July 23, at 4 p.m. in open session at the district office to review the shared facilities and school resource officer agreement.

The City Council approved the agreement earlier this month.

The agreement allows each entity to use the other’s facilities when city sites aren’t programmed for city events and school facilities aren’t programmed for school use without incurring charges.

It also spells out priority times for specific facilities.

The city can program 20 hours a week at each of the four community gyms — Manteca Community Gym at Golden West School, Stella Brockman Community Gym, Neil Hafley Community Gym, and Shasta Community Gym.

The city, as an example, will have access the Manteca High swimming pool Monday thru Friday from 4:30 to 9 p.m. immediately following the school swim session in June and July.

Overall, Sierra High School and Manteca High School facilities are a priority for the city to program in June and July Monday thru Thursday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. as well as 4 to 9 p.m.

There are 14 city facilities the district can use without charge — with the exception of chalking fields and use of balls and carts at the golf course.

They are Northgate Softball Complex, Lincoln/Morenzone Ballfields, soccer fields, Woodward Park, Northgate Park, Roberts Estates Park, Union West Park, picnic shelters, Library Park Gazebo, all city park locations, senior center, Lincoln Pool, Manteca Transit Center, and Manteca Golf Course.

MUSD lists all of its campuses as being available.

General facilities available for example, at Manteca High include classrooms, cafeterias stadium/track, practice field, baseball diamond, parking lots, small and large gyms, tennis courts, theater/auditorium, and restrooms.
