San Joaquin County employees are in line to receive one-time bonuses of either $500 or $1,000 for reporting to work during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The period the bonus applies to is March 30, 2020 and Sept. 26, 2021. That time frame has been identified as the most significant window of exposure to COVID.
Those that worked between 520 and 1,040 regular hours will receive $500. Those with more than 1,040 regular hours worked will receive $1,000.
The payment — if the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors approves it when they meet on Tuesday — is expected to be a part of the Feb. 18 paychecks. Eligibility also requires workers be employed at the time the bonus is issued.
The county will use $6,785,180 in federal COVID-19 relief funds to cover the bonuses.
The staff report noted “through the efforts of its valued employees, the County has maintained continuity of services to the community while striving to keep the workplace safe. To recognize the current County employees who either reported to work in person or through telework, the County has reached a tentative agreement with its labor organizations to provide a one-time payment of up to $1,000.”
