The San Joaquin County Office of Education has just launched a new webpage via social media.
Learning Outside the Classroom Enrichment Resources or LOCkER can be accessed using the SJCOE Facebook page.
“The page is filled with free resources to support educators, students, and parents with distance learning,” said Annie Cunial, who is the director of Outdoor Education, STEM Programs and Educational Services.
On Monday, the SJCOE Facebook page featured “From Paper Bag to Drawing Paper: Karin’s Garden” via YouTube.
According to Cunial, the launch of LOCkER featured SJCOE’s very own “Mr. Rogers” in Steve Callahan, who is the STEM Programs Coordinator.
Each day, he welcomes students using Facebook Live, encouraging them to try or learn something new.
“This Wednesday, (Steve) will be inviting students to write letters and create artwork to send to people living in local residential facilities that are not able receive visitors (due to COVID-19 pandemic),” Cunial said.
She added: “Many families are looking for ways to help and spread kindness during this time, and this is a great opportunity for the to do so.”
Students will be “Sending Hope” by writing letters or doing artworks to seniors at The Commons at Union Ranch (Manteca), Brookdale Kettleman Lane (Lodi), Brookdale Tracy, Creekside Care Center (Stockton), Delta Rehabilitation & Care (Lodi) and Lincoln Square Post-Acute Care (Stockton), to name a few.
