Sutter Health officials along with City of Lathrop dignitaries took part in the special ground-breaking event. The urgent care facility is projected for a 2026 second-quarter opening

The City of Lathrop dignitaries along with Sutter Health officials were among those who recently broke ground on a free-standing urgent care facility near the Lathrop Target store.

The special event held last week was a significant milestone, celebrating Sutter Health’s significant investment in the community.

“This project represents more than just infrastructure – it’s a commitment to expanding access to high-quality care for Lathrop residents and our neighbors across the region,” said the City of Lathrop via social media on June 25.

The Sutter Health Urgent Care facility is projected for a second quarter 2026 opening.

Not too long ago, Sutter Health opened a 17,000-square-foot health care center in Manteca’s Orchard Valley complex.

Another health care center with services similar to that at the Manteca facility is planned in Lathrop at River Island, next to the relocated – from Modesto – Redwood Café near the baseball field (River Island Field) and the future football stadium.

“We look forward to a strong and lasting partnership as Sutter Health brings its trusted services and compassionate care to our growing city,” said the City of Lathrop.

The not-for-profit Sutter Health continues to answer the call for expanded health care by making significant commitment to increasing access to physicians and services for patients.

Sutter Health – the 10th largest not-for-profit health system in the nation – serves 3.5 million patients along with eight medical groups.

Included are 14,000 physicians and advanced practice clinicians with another 57,000 employees including nurses.

The Lathrop urgent care is part of an expansion will position Sutter Health to capitalize on South County growth — Manteca, Lathrop, Tracy and Mountain House for the past six years have been perennially been one of the top three fastest growing region in California.

It also will give existing residents options as more and more long-time medical providers in the region are retiring.
