Daniel Gouveia Jr., 34, was arrested without bail at a Manteca home on Kelly Drive Thursday afternoon on an attempted murder charge related to a recent Stockton shooting.

Sgt. Chris Mraz spotted Gouveia enter the residence in the 1300 block of Kelly Drive and ordered a perimeter to be set up with other officers to prevent the man from leaving the area.  A telephone contact was set up and after a short negotiation Gouveia agreed to surrender and came outside.

He was taken into custody without incident and the Stockton Police Department was notified. They quickly obtained a search warrant for the residence.  The shooting occurred on Martin Luther King Boulevard and Hunt Creek Street Sept. 3.

Gouveia was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail on attempted willful murder charges, assault with a firearm on a person and for inflicting corporal injury to a spouse or cohabitant parent or child.

He is scheduled to appear at the Stockton Courthouse on Monday at 1:30 p.m.
