• ACE Great America trip this Saturday: Altamont Commuter Express is offering a ride and play package from Manteca to Santa Clara that includes lunch and admission to Great America amusement park on Saturday, June 11.

For $50, you can purchase a round-trip ticket that includes an all-you-can-eat lunch buffet, and entrance to Great America. There will also be shuttles taking passengers to and from the park. If you enjoy this excursion, stay tuned because on August 13, ACE will once again be running special trains to California’s Great America as well as making a stop at Downtown San Jose’s Jazz Festival. This joint train will allo riders to either stop at the theme park or at the festival and includes separate pricing for each event.

• Summer science classes for kids
: MODESTO – The Great Valley Museum of Modesto Junior College is holding six weeks of science and nature-oriented classes for children ages 4–12 starting June 21.  These popular programs cover a wide variety of topics ranging from animal adventures and science experimentation to artistic endeavors.

Each class is offered as a three-day series (Tuesday–Thursday) for one to two hours per day depending on the age group. For young children ages 4–5 or ages 6–8, the classes are held 10 to 11a.m. each day.  Classes for older children are held from 10 a.m. to noon. The cost of each class series is $40 for younger children and $60 for older children.

• Monthly Manteca classmate lunch: The “Monthly Manteca High Classmate Luncheon” takes place on Wednesday, June 15, at noon at the Chez Shari restaurant at the Manteca High golf course for the classes of 1957-1965.

• Sunrise Kiwanis rib feed on Saturday
: The Sunrise Kiwanis Pork/Rib Feed to benefit the Manteca Explorers takes place Saturday, June 11, at the Senior Center in Manteca, 295 Cherry Lane.

The social hour is at 6 p.m., dinner is at 7 p.m. and dancing is at 9 p.m. featuring the debut of the band Steel Glass. Dinner will consist of St. Louis Ribs, baked potato with all the fixings, beans, salad, vegetable and dessert. There is a no-host bar. Tickets are $25 apiece.
