MODESTO  –The Modesto Area Partners in Science (MAPS) will offer a presentation entitled “ADHD: Models, Myths and Medication” by Dr. Lawrence Diller, a pediatrician and expert in attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

The free public MAPS event will be held on Friday, Oct.17, at 7:30 p.m. in Sierra Hall 132 on the Modesto Junior College West Campus, and is intended for people over 13 years of age.

Diller, with 35 years of experience as a behavioral/developmental pediatrician, will challenge some of the conventional notions and myths about ADHD while providing information to make pragmatic decisions about ADHD diagnosis and treatment.

The presentation will also include four short testimonial videos of young adults who were Diller’s patients 13 years ago and now share their memories of ADHD and medication treatment.

Diller completed medical school at Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons. He trained at the Mental Research Institute in Palo Alto, and practices behavioral/developmental pediatrics in Walnut Creek.

Diller is the author of many books and his most recently published book is “Remembering Ritalin: A Physician and Generation Rx Reflect on Life and Psychiatric Drugs.”  Diller has offered testimony to a House Congressional Subcommittee and was an expert witness to the President’s Council on Bioethics.
