RIPON — An 18-year-old Ripon man was taken down by a police taser after he reportedly moved toward officers with a steak knife Wednesday night in the 200 block of South Walnut Avenue.
Samuel Smith Deathriage was arrested on charges of terrorist threats, being under the influence of a controlled substance, forcible entry to a residence, property damage, exhibiting a deadly weapon and for obstructing police officers in their lawful duties.
Ripon Police officers had responded to calls from nearby residents that a man with a knife was yelling and attempting to forcibly gain entrance to a residence.
Witnesses told of hearing the officers plead with Deathriage to drop the knife. When he refused and brandished the weapon toward officers, he was struck with taser darts and taken into custody.
