FOLSOM (AP) — Folsom police have arrested an escaped prisoner after residents found the inmate hiding in the bed of their pickup truck.

Marco Cabrera was reported missing around 9 p.m. Sunday during a head count at California State Prison-Sacramento, where he was serving a five-year sentence for an assault with a firearm conviction.

Authorities say at 9:19 p.m. Folsom police received a report that someone had stolen a vehicle in a neighborhood a few miles from the prison. The thief crashed the car into a water main before fleeing on foot.

Investigators believe the alleged thief was Cabrera.

Police say Cabrera was arrested about 6:30 p.m. Monday after residents of a rural Folsom home found him in their truck with minor injuries from blackberry bushes.
