• WIFE OF RANDY JACKSON OF ‘IDOL’ FAME SEEKS DIVORCE: LOS ANGELES (AP) — The wife of former “American Idol” judge Randy Jackson has filed for divorce after nearly 19 years of marriage.
Erika Jackson filed for divorce Friday in Los Angeles, citing irreconcilable differences.
The pair was married in December 1995, and she listed their separation date as Sept. 11. They have two children together, and Erika Jackson is seeking physical custody and spousal support. Their youngest child is age 17.
Erika Jackson is asking to restore her name to Erika Riker.
Randy Jackson served as a judge on “American Idol” during its ratings heyday and spent 12 seasons assessing talent on the series that launched the careers of Jennifer Hudson and Carrie Underwood. He served as a mentor on the show’s 13th season.
• SCHOOL SUSPENDS 21 STUDENTS IN ‘HAZING’ PROBE: CHINO HILLS . (AP) — A Southern California high school has suspended 21 students after a reported “hazing incident” that occurred when its football team was in Utah last weekend for a game.
Chino Valley Unified School District spokeswoman Julie Gobin said Friday the suspensions ranged from one to five days.
The team traveled to St. George, Utah, for a game. A district statement said students reported a “hazing incident” took place at a hotel. It provided no further details.
• BROWN AUTHORIZES LACTATION ROOMS AT MAJOR AIRPORTS: SACRAMENTO (AP) — Starting in 2016, California’s major airports will have to offer a private room for mothers to breastfeed or pump milk.
Under the bill, terminals at existing airports must offer rooms with a chair and an electrical outlet for the pump, while new terminals must include rooms with sinks.
It applies to airports serving more than 1 million passengers a year. San Francisco International is the only airport in California currently offering such accommodations.
Lowenthal has said her bill helps mothers who want to breastfeed by providing comfortable and private rooms for pumping. She says breast-feeding mothers should not be confined to the restrooms
