Everything from a two-minute shopping spree at the Grocery Outlet to a day training with the Manteca Police SWAT team and an autographed photo and rookie year card from San Francisco Giants pitcher Tim Lincecum are going to the highest bidders as part of the 31st annual Manteca/Lathrop Boys & Girls Club Telethon.

The telethon that includes entertainment as well as over 300 volunteers manning pledge phones is being carried live tonight on Comcast Cable Channel 97 from 5 to 8 p.m. and again on Tuesday from 4:30 to 11 p.m. You can also drop by the club to enjoy the entertainment, view bid items and make a pledge. The club is at 545 W. Alameda St.

New this year is cell phone and Internet bidding that allows instantaneous feedback of the latest bids plus gives each bidder the ability to respond quicker on items that they’d like. You can also make a pledge using an on-line Pay Pal system that uses Discover, American Express, MasterCard and Visa. To access the registration form that allows you to see all bid items go to www.mantecatelethon.com where detailed instructions are on the first page.

If you need help or want to bid without using the high-tech system that designer Fred White describes as a cross between e-Bay and the Home Shopping Network, you can call 249-7322.

Pledges can be made by calling 249-7333.

The goal is to raise $120,000 to support wholesome activities for 1,400 youth between ages 7 and 17.
