Baby JoJo, an 18-month-old toddler involved in a Fathers’ Day crash at Airport Way and Lathrop Road, died of his injuries Wednesday at the Oakland Children’s Hospital.

JoJo Anguiano had been airlifted by helicopter to the Oakland facility as other members of his family were transported to other facilities with major injuries.

A GoFundMe account was opened in his name earlier this week that brought in $10,155 in just one day with donations from more than 192 people.

One supporter of the family said, “There are no words that can be said to ease the pain and heartache his family is going through.  JoJo was a beautiful, happy, loving little boy with an infectious smile that would light up a room the moment he walked into it.   Baby JoJo will be missed by all who knew and loved him.  We thank you all for the kind words, prayers and concern.  Please continue to keep his family in your prayers and show your support by sharing the Gofundme.com link as they have a long road ahead of them with medical bills and now a burial.”

JoJo had been riding with his parents in their 2013 Ford Focus when it collided in the Airport Way and Lathrop Road intersection with a 2005 Honda that overturned.  The parents believed to be in their mid-20s were reportedly trapped in their vehicle after it had overturned.  They had to be extricated by firefighters with the Jaws of Life.  The Ford was reportedly eastbound on Lathrop Road and the Honda was said to be northbound on Airport Way.

One witness at the crash scene remarked, “It was awful hearing them crying out.”
