Ada M. Hodges, 75, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, Dec. 12, 2010, just one day shy of her 76th birthday in Manteca. She was born on Dec. 13, 1934, in Omaha, Nebraska. She was preceded in death by her parents Ollie and Elsie Walsh as well as son Ronald Lyman.

She leaves behind her beloved husband of 51 years, Harold Hodges of Manteca, her children Daniel Lyman of Washington, CA; Linda Hodges of Manteca; Sandra Hodges of Manteca; Susan Ayers and her husband Jim of Manteca. Ada was blessed to have 7 grand-babies whom she adored; Danielle Lyman, Emma Ayers, Andrea Ayers, Amanda Ayers, Alyssa Ayers, Alexandria Ayers and great-grand-baby Baileigh.  She was a sister to Lois Stark of Oregon and Robert Walsh also of Oregon.

Ada was a resident of Manteca for over 35 years. She was a homemaker most of her life but spent 15 years waitressing at Margie’s Cafe and later at Dorothy’s, where she enjoyed tending to her usual customers and making people smile. She enjoyed working in her yard and garden (where a weed didn’t stand a chance). Ada spent many mornings at Johnny’s having coffee with her friends.
She enjoyed the dinners held at the American Legion Post 249. Ada never met a raffle she couldn’t win. She had many friends and enjoyed a Lady’s Birthday Club who celebrated each other’s birthday every month.

But most of all Ada loved her husband and family dearly; she enjoyed holidays, family traditions and the scent of a fresh-picked flower bouquet. She will be remembered for being a loving wife and wonderful mother and the best Grammy ever. She will be missed dearly.

Arrangements for Ada are under the direction of P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home, 290 North Union. Visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010, from 1 to 5 p.m., A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor on December 17, 2010, at 10 a.m. in the P.L. Fry and Son Chapel.
