Al De Groot passed away one month and 3 days after he lost the love of his life, Annie. Al and Annie were married for 67 years and are now united in Heaven for all of eternity. Al was born on March 21, 1934 in the Netherlands and passed away peacefully with his family by his side on January 22, 2023.

Al was active within St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, including service in various leadership roles with the St. Anthony’s Chapter of the Young Men’s Institute (YMI), and support for St. Anthony’s Catholic School and Annual Harvest Festival.   Volunteering was a huge part of who he was as a person. He served as President of St. Vincente de Paul, was a decades long blood donor for the Delta Blood Bank, and a contributor to several charity organizations. He was full of energy and was eager to lend a hand to those around him for projects, large and small.

In partnership with his brothers; Nick, Jerry and Leo, they owned and operated the local dairy business Jersey Crown Dairy until his retirement in the 1990’s. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing, solving puzzles of any kind, and could make anything out of wood.

Al leaves behind his loving family; Ellen (Zeb) Hammonds, Albert (Rebecca) De Groot and Ron (Joyce) De Groot. Al was blessed with10 grandchildren; Kasey (Nick) Rossi, Ryan Hammonds, Sara Goncalves, Jessica De Groot, Zachary De Groot, Megan De Groot, Helena (Danie) Quirin, Anneke, Marike and Wolfgang De Groot and his great-grandchildren; Riley, Jayden, Cooper, Taya, Brady, Kadence, Aliyah, Elizabeth, Winston and Ramona.
