On Sunday, August 4, 2019, Curtis Patterson, retired Lt. Col. USAF, slipped the surly bonds of earth and passed peacefully. He was 89 years old.
   Curt was born September 11, 1929 in Stockton, CA to James M. Patterson and Abigail Frost Patterson.
   He grew up in Manteca with his two brothers, James M. Patterson, Jr., 95, of Logan, Utah and his younger brother, William Patterson, of Galt, CA (deceased). He graduated from Manteca High School in 1947 and went on to attend Santa Clara University on a baseball scholarship. After completing college, Curt entered the USAF in 1952 as a Second Lieutenant. In July of 1953 he proposed  to Theresa M. Marcellin, a stewardess with American Airlines, and a hometown sweetheart. They married in Stockton, CA on October 24, 1953. In 1954 they started a family having a daughter, Sue, and over the next ten years, five sons, Craig, Curtis Jr., Scott, Jim and Rick Patterson, would follow.
   While serving his country, Curt had tours in Japan, the Philippines, Hawaii and across the U.S. In 1968 he served for a year in the Vietnam war with the 333rd Tactical Fighter Squadron in Takhli Royal Thailand Air Base in Thailand, as a F-105D&F pilot, and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Presidential Unit Citation, while completing 125 missions.
   In 1977, after twenty-six years in the USAF, Curt retired as a Lt. Colonel, and he and Theresa settled in Modesto, CA.
   In 1982 Curt then attended Humphrey’s College of Law and obtained his Juris Doctorate in 1986.
   In July of 2018 Curt and Theresa relocated to Roseville, CA to be closer to their children.
   Curt is survived by his wife of 65 years, Theresa, his daughter, Sue and his sons, Craig, Curtis Jr., Scott, Jim and Rick, his grandchildren, Summer, Dustin, Jason, Malia, Kristin and Daniel Patterson. And his great grand-children, Brilee, Cade and Lyla Patterson, his brother James Patterson, Aunt Evelyn (107 years old), cousins, nieces and nephews.
He loved deeply, and he was deeply loved….he will be missed.
