Don Austin, 74, passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2019, at home surrounded by family.    
   Don was born May 19, 1945 in Oklahoma, the son of Guy and Stella Austin.  He met his wife Betty in Taft, California and they were married in 1967.  Don had a successful career and was a well-respected employee and area manager at Verizon for 38 years.  After he retired, he took up the position of Freshman Softball Coach at East Union High School for several years.  He enjoyed fishing and playing golf.  He was actively invested in all his kids and grandkids interests and proudly cheered them on through all of their achievements. Don was always encouraging his family to strive to be the best they could be through higher education.  He was an amazing role model for his family and the epitome of a hardworking and highly motivated man.
   He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Betty Austin, his two kids, daughter Tracy (Dave) Fulfer of Ripon and son Kevin (Becky) Austin of Manteca, 6 grandchildren, Andrew, Megan, Kyle, Lindsey, Ryan, and Matthew, 2 great-grandchildren, Kayden and Maddie, and three sisters, Shirley Henry of Virginia, Margaret Phillips of Oklahoma, and Louise Burton of Oklahoma.  
   He was preceded in death by his parents Guy and Stella Austin and sister Geri Croslin.
   Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 18, at Park View Cemetery, 3661 French Camp Road in Manteca.
