Joseph Brooks, 92, entered into rest Jan. 16, 2011 in Manteca, California. He was born on May 24, 1918 in Oxford, England, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph and Emily Brooks. Joe was married to his late wife Doris for 34 years. He served in the British Army during World War II in Germany, Berlin and France and was in landing at Normandy Beach.

Joe was preceded in death by Doris his three sons, Colin, Geoffrey and Clive. He is survived by one daughter Sheila and son-in-law Jesse who reside in Manteca. Joe also leaves behind 4 grandsons, Darrell, Robert, Daniel and Lee. Joe also has 4 great-grandchildren; Sage, Robbie, Sarah and Joe, who live here in the United States, and an additional 5 who live in England. Joe had a second wife, Angelina who is also deceased.

Joe has lived at The commons in Manteca for almost 2 years. He will be missed by everyone at The Commons where he made many friends. He always looked forward to traveling to South Hampton in England to visit friends and family. He enjoyed a great game of bowling, playing Bunco, and just being social with family and friends.  He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, but most of all, he was a friend to all.

Arrangements for Joe Brooks are under the direction of P.L. Fry and Son Funeral Home, 290 North Union Road, Manteca. Joe’s ashes will be interred at a later date in Oxford, England to be buried alongside Doris and their three sons.
