Margaret Elizabeth Mello, 87, entered into rest on Jan. 17, 2011 in Hughson, California. She was born on September 16, 1923 in Salida, California, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Jacineto and Margret Silva. Margaret joins her parents in heaven as well as her husband Frank Mello Sr., her son Richard Mello and her infant daughter Irene Mello, as well as her 5 siblings: Jess Silva, Frank Silva, Albert Silva, Lilly DeMarco and Josephine Cardoza.

Mrs. Mello is survived by her son Frank Mello Jr. and wife Robin of Kentucky, daughter Kathleen Mello of Manteca and daughter-in-law Anna Mello of Lathrop. Margaret was blessed with 5 grandchildren: Steven Mello, Shelly Mitchell, Lisa Green, Sherri Searl and Allison Mello. In addition Margaret was survived by her 10 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren whom she adored tremendously.

Margaret worked for various companies throughout her lifetime including; the Manteca cannery and Kraft Foods for over 27 years. She was a resident of Manteca for 85 years attending Manteca High School where she was on the Drill Team. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church of Manteca and she taught Catechism there for many years. She was also a member of the ICF lodge. She enjoyed a great game of bowling, playing on the league team of Kraft Foods. While raising her children Margaret was extremely active with her children supporting them in all of their involvements especially with FFA and the showing of their animals at the state fair. She loved traveling with her late son Richard, her daughter-in-law Anna and granddaughter Allison; traveling all over the United States and taking many memorable cruises. She also enjoyed taking trips to local casinos socializing with friends, enjoying each other’s company. She was a wonderful cook an she loved entertaining her family having them over as much of as possible enjoying special family time together. Margaret had a magnificent sense of humor; she had a zest for life and she lived it to the fullest. She loved life and was extremely proud of her family. She will be missed.  

Mrs. Mello’s services are being handled by P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home of Manteca. A visitation will be held on Thursday Jan. 20, 2011 from 1 to 7 p.m. followed by a rosary/vigil service at 7 p.m. A Mass will be held on Friday, January 21, 2011 at 10:30 am at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church 525 E. North St. Manteca. She will be laid to rest at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery – Escalon, CA. An online guest book is available for condolences at www.plfryandson.com search obituaries.
