Mary Sandy LaMar, 70, passed peacefully at home surrounded by family on January 20, 2018.  Sandy was preceded in death by her parents Cliff and Kathryn Spence, her brother Clifton Spence, and her first husband Roy Busch.   
   Sandy is survived by her husband of 29 years Steve
La Mar, brother Clayton Spence, children Michelle Mack (husband Tim), Kaj Busch (wife Roxane), step-daughter Nichole Kidd, and grandchildren Megan Mack, Caitlin Mack, Taylor Busch, and Trenton Busch.
   Sandy was born in Chico, California, resided in Salida for the last seventeen years, but always considered herself “old Mantecan”.  Her Spence family on her dad’s side and her Morley family on her mother’s side both came to Manteca in the 1930’s. Sandy grew up with a very large, loving, and tight knit family.  She was raised in Manteca and graduated Manteca high in 1965.  During her high school years Sandy was very involved with the Majorettes, endearingly known as the “Darling Girls”, and was homecoming queen in 1964.  After high school Sandy worked for a short time at Manteca Dental followed by working 35 years at Accent Carpet in Manteca where she retired in 2014. Sandy truly loved work, but lived for her family and friends.
   Sandy was blessed with a large circle of dear lifelong friends who loved hanging out during Bridge Club, bowling night, golf, or a quick run up the hill to the casino.  She was always up for a mall crawl.  She had over forty years with Alcoholics Anonymous where she helped many people over the years find sobriety and joy in life.  She will always be remembered by family and friends for her smile, her ease to laugh, how she cared so deeply for those around her, and her immense generosity with her time. 
   Sandy’s favorite place was Pinecrest Lake where she vacationed every summer with her entire extended family enjoying frosty’s with her grandchildren, sunbathing (she was our families Sun Goddess), floating on the lake, and spending quality family time.  Sandy will be best remembered as our families “Matriarch” who kept our family together.  She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother.  She lived for her grandchildren never missing an opportunity to spend time with them, encourage them, and spoil them to no end.  We will miss you and see you “in a few more sleeps”. 
   P.L. Fry & Son is honored to be serving the LaMar family.  Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 27, at 1:00 p.m. followed by a service at 2:00 p.m. both held at P.L. Fry & Son Chapel, 290 N. Union Rd., Manteca, CA.  Reception will be announced following the service. Donations can be sent to AseraCare Foundation, 2529 W. March Lane, Stockton, CA 95207.
