Neal Overboe of Clements was born on January 22, 1941 in Imperial, Nebraska to Maynard and Katherin Overboe.

The family moved to Manteca when Neal was nine where he attended local schools graduating from Manteca High School in 1958. After 2 years at MJC he earned a degree in Fermentation Science from UC Davis. It was there he met his future wife, Barbara Quinn of San Mateo.  After marrying they settled in Lodi where Barbara worked as a counselor at Galt High School and Neal began a long career in the Wine Industry. Over the years he worked for Guild, Dino Barengo, Lost Hills, McCormack-Williamson among others.  He also consulted with local winemakers and winery owners including Joseph Smith (Klinker Brick), Justin Weibel (Weibel), Evangelos Bagias (Lodi Vintners), Chad Joseph (Oak Farm), Barry Gnekow, Tyson Rippey and more. He was vital to the success of Lodi Vintners as Winery Manager/Winemaker and worked for the Rippey family for close to 30 years.  He and Barbara planted their Sauvignon Blanc vineyard (one of the first in the area) in 1978 at their home in Clements Hills. They enjoyed raising Pembroke rose corgis and spending their time at their mountain cabin with friends and family.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Barbara, his parents and his sister Nancy of the Clarks Creek Community.

He is survived by his sister Carol of Merced and his beloved corgi Remington (along with his friend and Remy’s caregiver Brooke McCartney).  A Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 24 at 11 a.m. at Glen View Cemetery, 23588 Mackville Rd., Clements followed by a Celebration of Life at the Lodi Vintners Winery, 3750 Woodbridge Rd., Acampo.
