It’s ice cream time! Manteca Historical Society & Museum is presenting its 23rd annual BBQ & Ice Cream Social at the Manteca Transit Center (Moffat Boulevard at Main Street) on Sunday, Sept. 13. Social starts at 2 p.m. and bountiful dinner at 3:30. There will be music by Second Chance Band, antique car show and a raffle. Advance tickets are $20 for adults, kids 12 and under $9. The historical society tonight at 7 p.m. is having Stanford University photography professor Robert Dawson who just published “The Public Library” — a photo essay collection of libraries in America — speak.

He will present photos and information about libraries and then discuss them.

Coffee and treats will be served after the free event at the museum, 600 W. Yosemite Ave.

Yee-haw! The Veterans of Foreign Wars Men’s Auxiliary’s annual Western Days are scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 15, at Ripon VFW Post 1051, 12455 West Ripon Road. The American Legion Post 249 (220 E. Yosemite Avenue) is hosting a Prime Rib Dinner Fundraiser on Saturday, Aug. 15, at 6 p.m. Served will be a prime rib with all the fixings. Tickets are $15 apiece. Funds raised during this dinner will help cover some of the Legion’s annual expenses.
