 My name is Shelby Anderson and I am a resident of Manteca.  I am also a golfer, I retired after a 36 years from the City Of Livermore with 28 years at Las Positas Golf Course including 10 years as Superintendent at Las Positas Golf Course.
I am writing this letter to the Manteca Mayor Steve DeBrum and his fellow council members to recommend Jeff DeBenedetti as your next Head Golf Professional and Manager of Manteca Park Golf Course.
 I worked with Jeff for over 15 years at Las Positas.  At the time, the City took care of the maintenance of the facility.   Livermore successfully operated its facility as a hybrid model with 3 separate businesses managing its golf course for 28 years I was there.
 There are management companies that can run the entire golf course.  However this model is successful because of the partnership and communication that comes from the Head Golf Professional.
 Jeff DeBenedetti has a passion for golf.  From the customer to the condition of the greens to the programs and the pace of play, Jeff DeBenedetti is committed to enhancing a golfer’s experience.  I worked with Jeff on a daily basis to maximize play and conditions of the golf course.  While I was focused on my end of the business and what needed to be done, Jeff always had creative and innovative ways of helping me get my job done while not impacting the golfer.  Jeff was always open to maintenance practices that needed to be done and worked with my staff to make sure it was done effectively and efficiently so that the golfers experience was not adversely effected.  Jeff was also very aware of every aspect of the course from fairways to bunkers to tee boxes and greens.  He was our eyes and ears to the potential issues that could happen so we could pre-act instead of re-act.
 My work experience with Jeff would characterize Jeff as professional, caring, customer service driven while being fair and consistent with policies and procedures.  Jeff is always aware of meeting the needs of every customer on the golf course throughout their 4 ½ hour round of golf.  The personal and family environment he creates is rare and usually only seen at private clubs.  He does not treat customers as ‘friends’ but as guests in his home.
Aside from my work relationship with Jeff, Jeff has an outstanding reputation in the golf industry.  He would be an asset to the City of Manteca.  We would be proud to have him in our community.
