Manteca sophs still perfect for season

Manteca put up 13 second-half points to offset two first-quarter scores for host Oakdale on the way to a 20-12 come-from-behind Valley Oak League sophomore football win at The Corral.

 Dakarai Charles had over 200 yards for the Buffaloes (6-0 overall, 3-0 VOL), gaining 118 yards on 14 carries with a touchdown and completing all three passes he threw for 99 yards. Juan Carlos Martinez’s one catch was good for a 45-yard touchdown and Darrion Kitson (16 carries, 80 yards) had a rushing touchdown.

 Bobby Bratton led the Manteca defense with 11 tackles while Charles and Jesse Avila added 10 each. Kitson had nine stops, Eli Willis seven, Marcus Rivas six and Tyler Graves and Brian Robbins five each. Graves and Elijah Root Sanchez each had a fumble recovery.

Weston Ranch 0

 The Jaguars scored all of their points in the first half.

 The Cougars (2-3, 0-2)  had problems with consistency.  Brandon Granado led Weston Ranch with 60 yards on seven carries.

 Jesse Cordero paced the Cougars defense with eight tackles and a blocked pass and Manuel Cobarrubias added five stops. Granado and Isaac Owen (fumble recovery) each had an interception.

 Elijah Harper booted a 45-yard punt with no return and Phillip Strother had 50 return yards for Weston Ranch.

 

Sierra 35, Lathrop 7

The Timberwolves used a solid ground game and stifling defense for the win.

Jackari Thompson led the Spartans (1-4, 1-2) with 85 yards on 11 carries and Diego Chavez was 5 of 13 passing for 43 yards with a touchdown pass to Andes Lozano. Alex Valencia had 15 carries for 70 yards and three receptions for 37 yards. Diego Chavez added 67 yards on eight carries.

 The Lathrop offense was lead by the rushing of Jackari Thompson with 11 carries for 85 yards and Diego Chavez completed 5 out of 13 passes for 42 yards and one touchdown to Andes Lozano on a 2-yard pass. Alex Valencia had three catches for 37 yards.

 Rob Luckett was in on seven tackles and Keenan Donatelli-Bryant and Andres Lozano had four stops each for the Spartans.
